Mystic Seaport’s Moby-Dick Marathon

The Charles W. Morgan at Mystic Seaport (MSMM)

Probably the best maritime museum in the United States is Mystic Seaport, CT, home to the last authentic, floating American whaleship in existence (in addition to many other boats). Every year, in honor of Herman Melville’s classic, a round-the-clock marathon reading on Moby-Dick is held on the wooden deck of the Charles W. Morgan whaler.

This article in SailingBeat takes a look at the Seaport, the ship, and Melville’s maritime legacy.

The U.S. Naval Academy

July 2008 Soundings

The July 2008 issue of Soundings magazine provides a travel destination feature on the Academy and how to reach it by boat.
