Bermuda’s Birthday

Bermuda

One of my favorite travel destinations is Bermuda–where  American loyalists went to escape the War for Independence. It’s an island I’ve both flown to and sailed from.

For East Coast sailors, Bermuda offers the premier offshore sailing race each year, from Newport or (on the off-years) Buzzard’s Bay.

In 2009, Bermuda celebrated its 400th birthday.  This 2009 article in SailingBeat examines the many charms of this remarkable and historic little island.
